Title: under gunnel glass
Post by: dakota on March 18, 2021, 06:13:54 AM
:051bye: hi, I need to know about fiberglass. I am working on very close buget.I took off the leaning pads on 2 sides of gunnels inside. I saw a 2+inch hole fom something put there before pads. anyway under gunnels in a few spots old waffle like glass webs (6-7") are hanging. I was told its from the molding process and comes from release on mold  in factory. anoher said to remove & put another glass layer in. can anyone say what is right to do.!!  thanks,  dakota

I would agree with the person that said that.

for the 2 inch hole, if it was a cleanly cut hole & not causing any issues I'd be inclined to find a cover plate that fits nicely and screw that over the hole. Glassing over the hole, fairing, painting, and getting to not look like a repair was done will be a lot of work if you haven't done this before. Most of us fall into that category.
