Title: 225 Suzuki too much for a 222?
Post by: Claytonl on March 08, 2021, 03:16:39 PM
I'm looking into restoring a 222. Looking at a flatback as well as a modified V hull. I already have a 225 suzuki 4 stroke to power it with, but am concerned about the weight affecting the self-bailing capabilities as well as it just being too much HP. Would the modified V-hull be a better fit for the 225? Or should I consider just getting a smaller 175-200hp motor? Thanks!!

The modified Vee. Flatback's perfect match is a 150.

It's overkill for both but especially the flatback. I would put it on a mod V if I had it but if I was buying a new motor I would be looking at the 150-200s

Thanks guys! Kinda what I was thinking too. I'll be sure to post any progress pics when/if it gets underway!

considering weight and not horsepower, aren't all of those V6 engines the same weight?
