Title: Mechanical Steering Cable
Post by: boatnamesue on December 20, 2020, 09:19:59 PM
I'll be replacing my existing mechanical steering cable (SeaStar Teleflex Safe-T) once I begin my console project...the existing cable will need 1' more cable length....so that's the reason for cable replacement.  This existing cable is very stout....very little flex, and fairly thick....about the same diameter as your thumb.  My guess is the cable is as old as the engine ('98).

For those of you whom have recently replaced a mechanical steering cable, are they designing the same model cable smaller in diameter and maybe a little more flexible now??.....or are the cables designed exact same as 20 years ago??
