Post by: Boondock on June 04, 2020, 05:57:41 PM
:41:  Hi all..... I was wondering if anybody else has noticed that there state/county is titling the 245 osprey's at a lenth of 26'1 instead of the 24'5?? I also know make all most triple in registration fee's each year in doing so! Any one know if there is a way to make them change the title to the 24'5?

I think they go by LOA (Length Over All) and that anchor pulpit on the front is the problem.
I would blame the manufacturers, they have usually marked them smaller than LOA - not sure why. If the pulpit is integrated into the cap the LOA changes but if it is an add-on, even at the mfr, it's not included in the LOA.

That's the true length of the hull when sitting in the water, aka center line length. Marketing it as a 26.1 is for all intent and purpose, incorrect. A 26' hull should have 26' in the water at rest.

Is this cost increase in Florida?
