Title: Where to get a fuel tank
Post by: nismokat on October 13, 2019, 08:50:35 PM
Hey guys I’m restoring my Osprey 170. Does anyone know where I can get a fuel tank from? I’m waiting to hear back from a few places to have one made. I figure I try here also maybe someone can guide me the right direction.

Your options will depend on the tank dimensions for your hull.  Reply with your model year hull and I’m sure a member will reply with the specs.

If the Osprey 170 tank dimensions are same as the mid 70’s 170 tanks then poly won’t be an option.  You’ll need a custom built Aluminum tank bc of the short height, which is like 5.5” if I remember correctly.

Start here:

Then contact:
http://marinefueltanks.name/6501/index.html

Or, depending on location:
http://www.rdsaluminum.com/

Both have built fuel tanks for Aquasport while it was in production. Phil at Alloy Metal has made quite a few for members here as has RDS (They made my 1991 replacement).

Good luck.

If I measure correctly I got 58” long , 21” wide and 8” y’all. This is 87 Osprey 170

170 Ospreys came from the factory with a 27 gallon fuel tank.

Your tank measurements equates to a 42 gallon tank. Maybe the PO changed it out some time ago. Can you make out the tank manufacturer spec sticker on the top of the tank?

Florida Marine (FMT) supplied Hialeah hulls with tanks. My 84 CCP as well as my 91 WAC (Bradenton plant) were both originally equipped with FMT tanks.

Good luck. :thumright:
