Hey guys ive got a 1987 200 and im going to be rebuilding the transome. I would love to close it in and install a bracket. Ive seen many styles of brackets each with their own setback. My question is, does anyone have an idea as to what kind of setback i should be looking for? Ill be putting the original mariner 150 back on it. Thanks in advance!

Blue Agave has a 196 with a 30” setback Armstrong flotation bracket and a Mercury 150 Four Stroke. He’s happy with his rig.
I just water tested my 200 CCP with the same bracket and motor. So far I’m impressed. Top speed In low 40s and cruise is what I expected to to be. That’s with a 17” Quicksilver 4 prop(same as Rev 4). I think I need to raise my motor a hole or two, and I expect some improvement.

Sweet. Im looking at a 32" setback. These used are pretty hard to come by. I guess if i was willing to travel i suppose i could find one. Thanks for the repy! Stupid question but could you go too far with setback. Just curious if those extra couple of inches would make a difference. I found one with a 39" setback as well.
