Title: 300 HP Diesel Outboard - Cox/Ford
Post by: GoneFission on March 26, 2019, 11:42:04 AM
Cox - a new company from Great Britain - is offering a 300 HP diesel outboard based on the new 4.4 liter Ford engine.  The new 4.4 Ford is an enlarged V-8 version of the 3.6 liter V-6 Lion engine Ford has offered for years.  Since it is based on the V-6, it's running a 60 degree V, which is nice for outboard use because it keeps the motor more narrow than a classic 90 degree V-8.

With 480 ft-lb of torque, you won't have any problems pulling someone up on skis.  A new 19 spline prop is used to help control the monster torque.

At around $50,000 and 800 lbs.     You won't see a lot of these - might not be a great choice for a 170 - but it could be sweet on a 250CCP or a Sea Hunter with deep pocket owner...  Check it out:

I find it interesting that like the Seven Marine outboards the first ones being tested in the US are hung on an Intrepid as a test bed.
