So i picked up a CCP that has ttop and was repowered but otherwise factory. During initial testing the Cavitation plate was buried (mounted even with transom bottom). We put on a CMC jack placte and raised it about 5 inch and just got it out of the water. We are still only getting these numbers. I'm thinking the possibility the diameter is slightly small. I see these commonly using a 15.5x17 or 15x19. Seems like we should be getting 42-46 out of this setup depending on pitch with 10% slippage

You raised it 5" to get it out of the water? Sounds like you have a 30" shaft motor on a 25" transom. The F200 is that the inline four cylinder?
I doubt you will be able to get much more than 40 MPH WOT with 200HP on that hull. The bow on the CCP is a very deep entry and takes a good amount of power to push. They are just not designed for speed. If your top speed id 32 at WOT of 5400 rpms I would say you need to step down to a 17? pitch. What is the recommended WOT rpms for that motor?

Its the 25inch and was mounted properly per standard rigging even with the bottom of the transom. But i guess the hull design and added weight of the engine we had to raise it that much to get the cav plate unsubmerged. Sounds like maybe even a 4 blade prop could help also based off your statement on the entry design. Looking for a 15x17 3-blade to try. Yes we got the WOT from 5100 to 5400 by raising the engine to the correct height. I'll post some pics.

If it helps any, I have a 1985 222 CCP and I put the same 25" F200 (4 Cyl) Yamaha on it last year. I get a max of around 42 MPH out of it and am happy with that. A great cruising speed is 30 MPH with this boat. I believe my prop is a 17 (whatever it comes with). I don't think you can get much more than 42 out of it.

Heatherwoods perfomance numbers are spot on with what I expected. And I agree 30 MPH seems to be the sweet spot for cruise on the over 22'+ CCP/Osprey/Explorer hulls.

My 210 WAC, which weighs more than your CCP makes 39.3 at 6000 rpm WOT, and it's an F150 I-4. I'm running a 14.25 x 15, 3 blade Reliance clone (Powertech) stainless prop. I truly believe if I raise the motor a tad higher it will break 40+ as I'm dragging the vent plate just under the surface. Cruises great at 31 mph @ 4800 rpm. Max power range is 5500-6000. I'm thinking your 200 I-4 is the same.
I ran 41 mph WOT on my 84 CCP with an Evinrude 200 Ocean Pro and that was with a 4 blade prop, though I can't recall the diameter and pitch.

Well I found a 15.5x17 Apollo 3 Blade in mint condition for $50!!! Putting it on tonight and will post our results!

A 17 or 19 pitch prop seems about right for a 200 on that boat. I'm currently testing 4-5 props on my 22-2CCP now that I have installed the new 200 Optimax 3 liter. I will post the results soon. Testing 3 blade, 4 blade, and 5 blade props for acceleration, top speed, and economy. Stay tuned!

Oh man! can't wait. We just tested the new prop. Apollo HSE 15.5x17 and it helped with mid range slippage. got 29.1@4500rpm which is about 19% slippage vs over 30% before. top speed did not improve though. around 33.5 @5100 with trim all the way down.

Try trimming the motor up. Once you’re on plane, you want to lift the bow a bit to reduce wetted surface and drag. You’ll likely see a couple of extra MPH and reduced slip at your cruise speed, and definitely see more speed and RPM at max.

It seems to bring the RPM up a few hundred rpms but no real effect on the speed much. Going out again tomorrow and will test again with a Merc High Five 19P.

So far, the High 5 in 19 pitch has been the best prop tested! Amazing hole shot and running 43 MPH at 5300 RPM on a 200 Opti with a 1.75 gear ratio. Still have a 4-blade left to test - maybe next week. Good luck!
