I have a 1968 22-2 flatback aquasport. The motor took a crap on me recently and I have to buy a new one. I am trying to see what size motor everyone is running on these. Mine had a 250 four stroke on it and I feel like there was no need for it. Now I am currently having a dual station half tower built with a t-top. But with that in mind what size does everyone suggest or had good experience with. Especially if you have a similar set up with the tower. 250 is just too heavy! Thanks in advance everyone.

Seems a few working Guides are happy with the power of the merc 150 Opti.

My '70 has a Yamaha 150 2-stroke. No tower or T-top I've never lacked power for going in and out the inlets. Goes along nicely 27-30mph at 3000rpm wide open 41 'ish.

I’m thinking that a 150 should be perfect for it. Just hope with the tower it’ll pop up! I might buy a used 150 to see if it does the job and then use it as a trade in. Might answer the question for me and is a lot cheaper than buying a brand new motor I’m not happy with.

I have a 222 CCP with a Yamaha F150 on it together with a Tee Top and all the fruit. It is nothing short of fabulous. Sure the hole shot is not as spectacular and probably takes 2 beats longer to get on the plane but once there you can comfortably cruise at 25 knots very economically.
