Hey Guys,
First of all, great forum, a lot of useful information. Anyways, i found a 2002 Aquasport 270 Explorer (wife and kids love the design and layout of the boat) and the dealer is willing to put brand new 2017 Yamaha 250s 4 stroke for $48k. Hull is very clean (it just has bottom paint). So my question is, can the transom support the 250's? They weigh about 571lbs each. I looked into the 1998-2000 and 2003-2005 manuals and they both say they are rated for 500 HP (I can't find the 2002 manual). After seeing a 2001 Wellcraft 27 transom with a crack, i am a bit paranoid. Also, can someone clarify if Aquasport was using wood in the transom during 2002?
What do you guys think?

Should be a poured composite transom. I'd ask the dealer about a pair of Etecs. They are lighter and just as quiet as the four strokes.
