I'm a freelance outdoor writer and radio show host based in Ohio. I write about boats and boating for magazines like BoatUS, Boating, Great Lakes Scuttlebutt and Heartland Boating, write hunting articles for Game & Fish publications, and host an outdoors radio show (buckeyesportsman.com) that airs weekly in a couple dozen markets across Ohio. After college I lived on Big Pine in the Keys in the early '80s, had a ('74?) Aquasport 170 and worked on crawfish and dive boats to get my hours toward a captain's license while writing for The Keynoter and The Key West Citizen newspapers. I hold Master 50 ton creds that I have never used -- but hope to in retirement! I have a '99 200 Osprey at present that I use as a project boat for my boating articles. At least that's what I tell the wife and accountant...

Truthfully, I'd rather be in my kayak when things are really snotty. You're a part of the sea, not on top of it, and if you capsize, you just roll up, no motor or other tech to ruin.
I taught Entertainment Design and Technology (stage lighting and scenery) at Valencia college in Orlando.

I can understand that Mshugg! I know I am glad I am in a big boat when I am out about 80-120 miles offshore. Especially when we get the high wind and big seas! Thank Man for the big 1000 HP Caterpillars to push me over them big seas and sometimes thru them. Nothing like being in big seas and water coming over the top of the boat and we still are working right thru it!!!

I am a project engineer at a fabrication shop. We manufacture and install mining, screening, crushing, and recycling equipment. http://mglengineering.com/ There is very little we won't do for money! We recently manufactured two portable machines to screen slurry being pumped off a barge to re-nourish beaches. They are pumping 45,000 gallons per minute of water and sand through this thing!!! Check out the promo video that my customer made: https://vimeo.com/192529855#at=0
