Title: 176 ff transom design

I have a 176ff and I am wondering if anyone can tell me how the transom is designed. I have been tapping on the transom to determine if it is solid and it gives a good ring tone from the motor mounts out to about where the wells and battery boxes are. This leads me to think it may not be wood all the way across. If anyone has done transom repair on a 176 I would appreciate some help.
