Title: horsepower limits
Post by: hlobsta on July 14, 2016, 08:44:09 AM
Good day, I own a 19.1 1969 aquasport. Current, I have a 90hp Mariner..I want to upgrade and wondering what is the recommended max hp engine, without modifying the stern? Thanks

Not sure what the max HP for that model is, but a 115 should do well. Be sure and take the weight of the engine into consideration when you do your shopping. Today's 4 strokes are heavier than 2 stokes. I'd look for the lightest model in which ever HP you decide to go with.

Closest I could find was 125hp for 1971.

Note the twins were between 110 and 120. 115 sounds about right especially with modern power.

Good luck. :thumright:
