Title: Aquasport 170 fuel tank replacement
Post by: Frank170 on June 22, 2016, 11:23:26 AM
I am replacing the fuel tank in my 1979 17ft cc Aquasport. After much online searching for a plastic tank that would fit I settled on a custom aluminum tank from Speedy Tanks. I have not received it at this time but it has shipped. We had to pull the old hoses out (they were 30 years old). What a pain! The whole mess was foamed in. We had to cut an access hole to dig all of the foam out to break it loose. I will cover the hole wit a deck plate. The tool of choice was a set of pry bars from Harbor Freight ($10). I think the time and effort was worth it.
I will be replacing the old teak around the console with composite lumber.
I will keep you posted on how the refit goes.
