Title: Mounting console
Post by: flyboyo2 on June 21, 2016, 08:39:36 PM
I'm getting in the short rows now and need to glean the proper way to remount the console to the deck. It was mounted with 16 2inch #12 wood screws.  There doesn't appear to be any rot in the area of the deck screw holes but that would be a minor miracle.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I'd inject some epoxy thickened with milled fibers into the mounting holes.  Then re-drill them and remount.  This will do two things for ya.  1) it will strengthen the mounts and give the screws better bite. 2) it will seal your core better from water intrusion.

I'd mount the console with either #12 or #14 truss screws.  They look like a regular screw but the head is flatter.

......doing this right now for a new leaning post.  Just make sure your holes are oversized, and mask around the holes..... it gets messy.

Thanks for your input, guys.  I did the dirty deed yesterday and messy is an understatement.  The console ain't going anywhere unless the deck goes with it.
