2000 Johnson 115 v4 is leaking oil between lower unit and prop, anyone know what is causing this and how to fix. Thanks in advance for any help.
-
without a picture, I'm going to guess it's "blue" oil, probably coming from the exhaust ports,,, just unburned oil. hook it up to ear muffs in your yard and let it run for a bit- it"ll burn off.
my 2-stroke Yamaha did that once.

I got off the water there was nothing leaking hooked ear muffs up to flush out with freshwater and noticed it after I had got done cleaning the boat. it used to just leak a little which I was told was normal, but now it seems serious. ( I still have vro hooked up)

this picture was taken a while back

that's exactly what mine did. made a nice little puddle of stuff. has only happened once.
just watch it

Typically it comes from long idling before you put it on the trailer. If its gearoil it will smell strong and a little sulfury like gear oil, if its oily 2 stroke exhaust it will smell like gasoline.
