Title: 1982 vs 1988 Osprey 222
Post by: Hubbs4240 on May 24, 2016, 02:24:28 PM
Was looking to purchase a 1982 Osprey 222, sale fell through. Now I am looking at a 1988 Osprey 222. I am noticing that the "splash well" near the transom is different. The 1982 had two storage boxes built in on either side of the well. The 1988 does not have the boxes and is more open. Anyone know why this change occurred and is this original (guy says 1988 boat is original, as was the 1982)? Does this 1988 style of transom still self bail adequately?

Here is an early '80s catalog page - this had small boxes in the corners. The page also shows an optional fishbox.

and a '86/87

Why did they change the design?  Your guess is as good as anyones.
