We are considering a used 2003 225hp Honda 4-stroke. It has 635 hours. The Boss desires a quieter engine. Our boat is a 1982 25XF. The seller is a fisherman and is asking $5,000.00 for the Honda. Looking online I see all sorts of comments about Hondas from the best to the worse. Also I still see the old debate of 2 versus 4 stroke as in weight, efficiency, reliability, expensive 4-stroke maintenance, etc; etc; etc; With a boat as big as ours, will we notice a signifigant savings in fuel, easier starting, slower speed, again etc; etc; etc;? Thanks, Gary and Sue

They are heavy motors.

We have a chance to get a great deal on a used Honda 4-stroke BF 225 265 hours! If it all checks out will our 25XF/24' 6" Express Fisherman be alright with that 600 lb. motor? Our old Johnson runs fine but really sucks the fuel and is getting on in years as a 1989 225. Thanks, Gary

Gary, it's ok to keep all the questions you have on the newer engine for your XF in this thread. Otherwise it gets hard to figure out where to answer.
