Okay its that time again. I've flirted with disaster far to long, with my 39 year old gator built trailer and I'm ready to pull the trigger on a new trailer.
You all know me, Im a big fan of the Owen and Sons trailers, but wanted to get some other opinions that are available in the Pinellas County area.
Im looking for a single axle (to keep the cost down a bit) aluminum, torsion axle trailer.
Thanks :afro:

Scott, sometimes you may have to go just a smidge out of Pinellas. Give these guys a call, Fastload over in Plant City...http://www.fastloadtrailers.com/ (http://www.fastloadtrailers.com/)
I've had 2 at the house in the past few weeks, excellent trailers at a GOOD price...

Skoot! Where ya been man! I was just talking about you today with Aaron. Have you checked CL? Check with Odell trailers in Largo. They have been advertising boat trailers online a bunch. An aluminum torsion trailer is a good idea.
Can you make the gathering this weekend?

Scott pops in on occasion, Bruce...always good to see him!

I've been going through a bunch of personal shiz, and honestly dont really know where I've been myself. :shaking2: I wont be able to take my boat to the gathering as I'm down right scared to even pull her to the local boat ramp. (its seen better days.)
I've checked craigs, but most of the good USED trailers on there are only a few hundred dollars less than buying new.

Now that I'm faced with a toll (not an insignificant one, either) every trip from one side of the bay to the other, I'm getting very conscious about any extra axles. They start to add up. I'm hunting for a new trailer for my 19-6 and I'm sticking with single axle to save that $5 per trip.
Not sure if tolls are ever a concern down there, but for me it's worth thinking about when trailer shopping.

Glad to hear you're doing OK brother Skoot! I think a heavy duty single axle trailer will do fine considering your type of trailering around the Bay. I see tons of single axle 17-19' with stern drives going down the road. I would recommend up grading to 215 14" tires. Our boats are light and you'll be lucky to be 2500# fully loaded on your 19-6 so you'll have an extra 1000# on a 3500# axle. Also up grade to all stainless hardware going into the water and sure lube hubs with torsion axles. Go for it. Call me. Life throws curve balls at us and we survive.

hey skoot, we have a single axle at my work you may get a good price on, the aluminum crossmembers corroded through and cracked at the bunk brackets... easy fix...
also, I may sell my trailer when my flatback is closer to completion. my trailer is too small for the flatback, especially once i hang the motor on the transom...
