Hi,
What size fuel tank does a 1984 CCP 200 have? I have seen 73 gall and 50 gall quoted. I am thinking the newer versions have 73 gall but not sure what year that started or if? Does anyone know?
-
The original 200CCP was 50 gallons, then Aquasport increased it to 73 gallons for the 1981 model year when they did the updates to the CCP line. The 20 foot CCPs had 73 gallon tanks from then on.

Thanks for your help. Is the fuel tank under the coffin box? Is it easy to
get at? Do I have to rip the deck up? Is it aluminium or plastic? Do I just wait until I see gasoline in the bilges to know that the tank needs
changing? Any thoughts. I think my tank has been empty for the last
18 months. The last time it was used it was good, no leaks. Any ideas of the life expectancy of a gasoline fuel tank?

Richard, why don't you remove an inspection plate (pie) and take a look at your tank? At least you'll be able to tell what material it's made from...
-
Agree.
Might smell gas too.
Maybe it's been replaced.
If not, it's pretty old and a good bet it will need to come out.
Good luck.
-
Ditto the above - original tank would be aluminum inside the tank enclosure under the tank cover/hatch. Probably due for replacement if it's original.
-
Just to be sure, is the fuel tank under the coffin cooler box Fwd of center console?
-
Richard, do you have any pie plates you can remove...and see what's under them?

The fuel tank hatch will begin slightly forward of the console, then extend back towards the stern. Your console will sit on top of the tank. Where you stand at the helm....you'll stand above the last third of the tank.
Behind the console...and behind the leaning post/seating area...there will be a circular, twist off plate on the deck, twists off (or pops off with a screwdriver) to inspect the rear of the tank, fuel line(s), sender, etc.
It is at the end of this very large hatch. The hatch cover is presently imbedded and part of the deck.
Take a close look, you'll see the "pie plate".

Here ya go.
Front end of tank under console (not coffin box). Should be pie plate at this end.

Rear of tank (should be pie plate as Gran stated at this end)

CB - those pictures look, uh, kinda familiar!

Hard to see but it appears to be an old wood calculator up under the console in the first pic.
Leave your slide rule down there CJ ?

You Guys are the best. Thanks.
Can't wait do some bottom painting and get in the water. Will check the pie plate openings. Now I know where to look.
