Anyone have a paint code that matches reasonably close to the what y'all call Lima-Bean-Green (should be Butterbean-Green...what the heck is a Lima Bean?)? My wife and I call it Baby Poop Green, but regardless of name, I like it. Buddy has wholesale account at marine supply house that custom mixes Awlgrip (and the various other "Awl-s") and while they can match a color, they're not big on catering to the less than $$$$$ crowd...which is understandable, they are after all, a wholesaler.
Just curious because at some point I might put a gallon or two on my decks just for kicks...

Lima Bean Green is a term hallowed amongst aficionados and enthusiasts "in the know".
It was coined in 2009 by a Mechanical Master at Classic Aquasport.com.
"Baby Poop" green is perhaps more descriptive in terms of hue and saturation, but with a nod to history, appreciation and respect, the name shall remain "LBG." In addition, most of us grandpaws here cannot remember exactly how "Baby Poop" appears. Even if had to view it nowadays with "readers".
To my knowledge, there isn't an existing paint code. However, we do have the correct gelcoat color. When you get ready, let me know, will gladly supply a sample :thumright:

Butter Beans generally have lighter color variants mixed in the yield that would render the color to be a different hue than a more stable color normally shown in a true Lima Bean presentation. There is evidance to support that mashed processed peas inherant to the typical Gerber composite that infants consume could be catagorized in a similar color array prior to digestion and subsequent digestion and effluent stream. So it was determined that non GMO altered Lima Beans deemed the best color match to a non- aged replication of the original interior gelcoat.

Well when I feel froggy, I'll take the plug I cut out of the front of my icebox in order to redo my bow hook (which should be pretty close to original color having been under a closed lid for most of the last 39 years) and get them to try to match that. Time being I have more pressing issues (like putting my motor back together and filling the holes I drilled in my stringers and such).
For the record: I've always called 'em butter beans...big, small, bright green, tan, whatever...I call em butter beans. Now, my wife is from New York City (said in the guy's voice from the Pace Picante' commercial) and she calls everything lima beans except little baby butter beans...she calls those "butter beans" (no "baby"). I'm led to understand that the "correct" answer is that the terms are essentially interchangeable, but from region to region may have specific meanings...none of which necessarily correspond to the next region, or family's version of what each one means.
My wife also happens to be a pediatrician, so while we have no youngin's of our own (aside from two dogs that live better than some kids), she probably sees more shades of baby poop than most, and she's the one that proclaimed that "those floors are the color of baby $hit" the first day she saw the 19-6. :lol:

I DISTINCTLY remember the color of my daughter's 100 MPH runny stream of poop, which I proudly wore all over the front of my jammies while changing her. Feet in the air, brand new diaper under her butt, smile on her face...and the jet stream.
Of course this was at the SIL's after the ex said, "Don't worry honey, she's fine! Let's go over to Palm Bay for the weekend..."

Ryan, good thinking. Use what's under-deck as an accurate match to original color. Compare the sample to what you are patching prior to order with regard to fading. May need to lighten the final code. One thing Farley and I were surprised with...the nice match we were able to get on the original 70's gelcoat.

Your wife, the admiral and pediatrician, is correct in her summation. It looks like baby chit. But as it becomes part of the family it will gain beauty over time.
