Newbie here. I just purchased a 1980 200 CCP and I am having a hard time locating the forward bilge pump. The light turns on when I flip the switch but I cannot hear the pump. Where is this pump typically located how do I access it.
Thanks, Mullady76

Welcome aboard :thumleft: I am not sure about a forward bilge pump. There should be a pie plate at the base of the splashwell right near the deck inside the cockpit. That should be how you access the pump. My 200 CCP had very limited bilge access and it was through that location.

I doubt CCPs have a forward bilge pump. That is pretty much a feature of cabin type boats...

Here is a picture of my 200 CCP. As you can see, there is the pie plate for the bilge access. That was the only place I found that I could access the bilge pump. If I still had the 200 CCP, I would remove the pie plate and install a rectangular hatch in that location to gain better access.

I did not have one on my 84 222. Water drained back to the rear pump.
I do have one on my 91 WAC. It also has dedicated switches for both front and rear. My CCP only had one switch.
Access was as JD stated, through a deck plate in the splash well. PITA.

The boat has a thru hull fitting just forward of the center console on the starboard side (below the gas tank vent), which I assume is for a bilge pump? The fuse panel also has a switch labeled forward bilge and it lights up when turned on. There is also a large storage box in front of the console that's bolted to the deck. maybe that is covering up and access port?

That thru hull fitting is the drain for your coffin box. I hose runs from that up to the deck right under the coffin box. Move the coffin box and there should be a pie plate there for access.

Looks like this.

As stated, the plate allows you access to the hose from the deck drain to the thru hull.

Thanks allot guys.

The forward bilge pump was an option on CCPs. The pre-1981 console panels have switches for forward and aft pumps, but most do not have the front pump installed, only the aft pump. The forward pump goes under the pie plate that is under the coffin and it drains through a line that goes out near the coffin drain, or toward aft near where the aft pump outlet is located.

Well, well. You learn something new everyday.
Thanks CJ.

I just learned something as well. Thanks GF  One thing is for sure, if the forward pump came on as well as the aft I would be heading to dry land

Pre-81s so.....
Do you have one GF?

My 1984 has the same setup. Under the coffin is a drain which receives the stub hose from the coffin. The pie-plate hatch enables access to the drain fitting. My through-hull was leaking so I dug out the foam that was encasing the hose and replaced it. Had to install a hatch in the floor to get to the through-hull and to enable foam removal.
No pump there.
