Title: Bilge Discharge hose size for 225 help
Post by: 225Explor on June 09, 2013, 10:26:08 AM
I am over 90 minutes away from my boat and have no pics so bare with me.........on my 225 Explor when you open the transom control access door for the battery switches and so on, to the lower left their are 2 Bilge discharge(white PVC coiled style) hoses attached to the 2 thru hull discharge fittings.  I assume they are the originals(1995) both have formed a kink at the bend point where attached to the thru hull fitting.  I want to replace them.....they seem like they are the hoses made by Shields ?????  If that's the case I did a quick online search and those hoses are not cheap. SO, 2 questions I have.....Do I need to replace those hoses with the exact same type or is their a cheaper style hose that will work just as effectively that I can use ???  AND what is the ID measurement of those hoses so I can order online, I figure about 6 feet for each should do ??  Any tips, suggestions, online stores would be appreciated, thanks Mike.

The hose should be 1 1/8 ID

1 1/8 for most pumps 750gph and larger..I do not recommend cheaping out remember the original was probably the cheap one too.

I used the heavy duty sanitation hose when I plumbed my back up pump.

Pete, any idea what the OD is of that white hose?  I need to add a bilge pump to my 170 during the rebuild.

Pete just to clarify.....is that the same ID(1 1/8" ID) as the 2 lower ones(black color) in your picture ?  Those are the 2 I need to replace.  Thanks, Mike

No, those lower ones are 3/4" ID hoses, one for the washdown, the other for the livewell...

If those go to the bilge pump they are1 1/8" ID,the 3/4" ones go from the live well/ wash down diverted and pump.
