Title: Need an Anchor Locker Hatch Clasp
Post by: daniel123 on April 23, 2013, 02:20:08 PM
The white plastic clasp device that holds the vertical anchor locker hatch shut on the front end of the bow deck my 1999 200 Osprey broke and the parts left don't give me much idea how it looked, other than two small screws held the 'female'/receiving end secure to the star-board frame surrounding the locker, and another two held the white plastic 'male' end on the back side of the star-board lid. It's a bottom-hinged lid with a finger hole near the top, for use with a simple friction-type clasp for single-handed push/pull closing/opening. The small ball-and-socket type of 'clasp' from Perko does not fit the application. Any ideas? I want to keep the single-handed feature and do not want to use metal if I can help it.

Thanks!

Need a pic (whatever is left of the parts and the mount) because I pictured the Perko catch.

How about this?

Bob,

That first Perko one is what I got at WM and won't work -- it requires too much depth to secure the female to the frame to allow the hatch to close flush. The second one might just be the ticket! I'll see if WM has 'em when I return the Perko today. Otherwise, I'll have to shop that YSD site to make the shipping worth everyone's while!

Thanks --once again -- for your help.

Look through here http://www.southco.com/en-us/ (http://www.southco.com/en-us/) see if you can ID the latch, then go to
http://www.mcmaster.com/#latches/=mgn2j3 (http://www.mcmaster.com/#latches/=mgn2j3) and dig around... there stuff is good quality, and low prices.

I saw one that will work, but I got one at WM I'll try, Marc, before trying one of these. Thanks!

I found the latch at Yacht Supply that should work, but it's only $1.99 and they want almost $10 to ship it. When I added two rubber rod holder inserts I need, to try to make it worth the shipping, it jumped to $26! Anyone have a source for those white rubber inserts for 30 degree flush-mount rod holders and/or clasps?
