Title: Mounting my engine
Post by: trailoblazin on May 21, 2006, 03:40:36 PM
I am about to mount my engine on the transom. My question is how far down does the engine need to be. I heard from somebody that the top of the prop should be level with the bottom of the hull. Can someone point me in the right direction.  thanks

Uaually the cavtion plate is even with the bottom of the hull or 1in higher.

Yes, the Mercury installation instructions I got with my new motor said to have the anti-ventilation plate level with the bottom most part of the hull although there is a range of perhaps an inch or two from what I've heard.

I know my motor was mounted with the AV plate level with my hull's bottom and it works great.

Be extra careful in levelling the motor.
