forward casting platform mods?

Has anyone modified the forward casting platform on their boat? My 222 project im currently on the fence with flat decking it or keeping all that storage and use. My idea was to cut the bottoms out of each hatch and open it up to the stringers and bottom of the boat then bulkhead them off for separation and stability. maybe a insulated fish box cooler and large dry/trolling battery storage forward. Has anyone done something with the stock cap and hatch layout that can direct me to a build thread? thanks pictures to follow when i figure that out.
