Steamed Clams
« on: December 15, 2012, 06:10:51 PM »
My son just came home with a bag of three dozen little necks clams. We steamed  them up and chowed down on them. Boy do I miss clams being from the North East. We used to eat them all the time.  My favorite are the soft shell clams more commonly known as piss clams. I can sit there and eat them for hours.
I remember as a kid digging them up and them my mother steaming them. That and some drawn butter. :D  :D  :D

OH yeah I remember going to clam bakes with my dad wehn I was a kid and standing around a huge galvanized tub full of clams shucking them and eating them on the half shell.... people were floored to see a little kid sucking down raw clams.  We also used to have company party calm bakes.  We'd drive a pickup to Boston and go down to the docks.  They'd put down a bed of seaweed in the bed of the truck and fill her up with bushels of clams and live lobsters... then cover it up with sea weed....  Then we would head back to western Mass...  good eatin!
