Are you talking about the wells that the helm seats are attached to the top of?

My 91 has deck plates under the "step" to the walk area around the cabin that was thought to allow access to the drains. The key word here was "thought". It is a tight squeeze and a long reach.

This is a 97 which might be like your 05.

yes the boxes the seats are mounted on,

Are there deck plates mounted above the seats on your model year?

Another ingress may be available. My hull has removable covers on each side of the helm to the right and left of the seats. The right side allows access to the throttle control and wiring. There is a lot of wiring/cables to reach around. The left is mostly empty. A long reach but more working room.

Again, I'm not sure they had those removable panels in 05 but it appears they are present in the pic of the 97 above.

Good luck. :thumright:

The access ports are about 2 ft from the thru hull, I can barley see the thru hull from the fishing pole storage hole, it is almost like I have to make a penetration in the outer wall of the polyethylene liner of the storage  compartment, what I was trying to avoid , thank you rob

ps those hatch holders are a great idea!

Ok, lets be more clear....Are you saying there were no plumbed drains from the wells to the side of the hull? Did you remove them and are now wondering how to re-attach? Are you replacing the plastic thru hull fittings?

my Initial post

Ok, so Yes I am replacing all of the thru hulls, all hoses, all thru  hulls bronze valves.

After watching this site ,it was evident to me that there is no access to the mid boat thru hulls ,draining the compartments, which the helm seats are mounted , so I made two penetrations for inspection plates inside the compartments, directly over the thru hull.

Problem solved, FYI my boat was made in 2005, all of the hoses required replacement, even the ones you can't see.
Today I made a carbon fiber dash, tomorrow project continues, and again thank you for the help, rob

'97 225 Explorer with the same drains in the cooler seats.  The drains seem to be about 1 inch but the plug is too long for it.  There's a small piece of plastic preventing the plug I tried from seating all the way home.

Are these plugs special or a specific type? It seems like the drain needs a screw-in plug but I'm not familiar with that.  Anybody know?

I'm guessing here. A pic would be helpful.
On my 91 (which is your hull without the Euro transom), the bait well was on the starboard side. It comes with a plastic tube with a rubber grommet that you insert into the drain. this is an overflow tube and will fit (IIRC) both drains so yes they would be the same I.D.
I'm guessing you are trying to plug the drain holes in these compartments????
