Some rebuild pix - preliminary
« on: January 31, 2005, 01:51:39 PM »
A couple of rebuild pix.  This is from a friend's rebuild.  It may give some insight to those wondering whats under their deck.  Apparently there were many different versions of the same boat, so there are no guarantees that it will be exactly the same.  This one had glass over foam stringers.  The foam was soaked with water.

I gotta tell you, as wierd as this sounds, if my boat was that far knocked down, I'd have to serously consider turning her into an inboard.  Why not?  You'd need to build new decks and, you could do whatever you wanted with the stringers at that point.

He is looking to go fairly shallow.  There is a porta bracket on the back now too.

Its a 222

Wilson - no offense but are you sure that hull is an Aquasport?  The hull, deadrise looks too deep and the stringers are different.  That may be an AS knock-off.

Good eye.  It is a knock off.  My friends who bought it didn't even realize until they had pulled it completely apart.  I'm sure someone made a plug  out of an Aquasport, and built that boat.

In reality it is so similar you would never know.  I know that the 222 changed almost every year during the 70s.

In the early 70s there was no dead rise, but as the years progressed, the deadrise grew.  So in 70 you would have had a flat back and in 76 you would have about 12deg. deadrise.
