1981 22-2 ccp fuel tank leak or a hose...
« on: January 07, 2011, 09:25:36 PM »
Hello,

I had some fuel come out of the bilge and my quantity is down in the original aluminum  fuel
tank in my 81 ccp.  I have not found the leak yet, but has anybody changed out the tank?  I have factory
T-top that needs to be removed to get at it.  Its a 80 gal tank feeding twin Johnson  88's  (1996) Any one
replace this tank?  Any suggestions on where to purchase a replacement?

                                                        Thanks Kevin,

When the time comes that you change your tank, you'll find it has corroded along the mounting straps on the bottom and/or sides.

Tanks, corrosion and Aquasports.

Thanks Bob... I found your info it will be helpful.  Do they make a plastic tank that would hold up and be the
correct dimensions?

Kevin,

Welcome. Replace it with a new aluminum tank, double pick-ups for the twins.

Go ahead and pull the old one ASAP, let her air out.

Try here.

You'll need to pull the old tank and get the dimensions.
They may have something close and contact them (they are very friendly and will help all they can) but usually most replace with an alum.

Good luck.
