Horsepower for 19 6??
« on: July 30, 2010, 09:09:35 AM »
How will a 1972 1996 run with a 2004 tohatsu 90 hp?

I am guessing it will slow to plain with 4 people and  top out at 30 mph?

What would be the optimum pitch on the prop?   (I am guessing a 15 !?)

Thanks

I have a 1975 19-6 with a 90hp tohatsu as well.

Here are my numbers.
WOT with a light load I can reach 35mph
WOT w/4 Adults 2 kids, I can plane quick and 32mph.

Also, im still messing around with my motor height and prop, read my other thread here. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5684

and lets see some pics of your ride captain.

I have a 1972 19-6 with a 90hp e-tec.

While i don't have a speedometer to get you the WOT speed; i can tell you even with a load it pops out of the water and on plane pretty quickly.  I'd guess trimmed out little over 5k/rpm i can get going at least 35mph.

My prop is an Evinrude 13.5 X 15.  Hope this helps.

I had a 75 on a 13' whaler so if the boat can float with the v8 beast in it then lets give it a shot. Might need a slightly larger fuel tank though

Twins, Rob, Twins...

And maybe a couple extra 6-gallons sitting on the deck...that'll get you 10 mins at WOT!!!

I have to say one of the really neat things about these boats is that you can hang so little horsepower on on a 20' boat and it will perform just fine. Lewis has a picture of some late 70's 19-6's with 70hp Johnson's for rental purposes. There aren't many 20' center console saltwater boats that can get away with that.

SKOOT.......I dont have it yet, I am still looking and the one I am looking at is 4 hours away and has that engine on it.  So I wanted to get some ideas before I spend a day on the road.

BUMPSTER........I hang a Mercury 40m, with 60 carbs on my 1642 jon boat......All I can say, better not hit a rock.

Thanks to all the responses.    I appreciate them.
