115 on a 19-6?
« on: February 09, 2011, 09:34:29 AM »
What do you guys think or have experience with as far as having a 19-6 with 115 power? Is that enough?

Sounds good to me, unless you want a speed boat, that should be a good mix of economy and sufficient power.

Seems like these boats perform about the same with 90hp-140hp, all topping out around 40mph, give or take a few mph.  Probably due to a lack of planing chimes at the stern- there's a lot of hull in the water creating drag.

you'd have to step up to 175-200hp to get to the 50mph mark.

115hp is just right, IMO

Thanks! I wasnt really worried to much about top speed, just making sure that was enough power for 3-4 people and some diving gear.

i ran a 112hp for a while, topped out at 40-43mph, averaged 38mph with 3 people, and full livewells. cruised at about 25-30mph...

and a 200hp will get you about 55 mph if you play with her 8)

I run a 90hp on my 19-6 and it pushes me approx 30-35mph.  The most weight Ive had was a full 45gal fuel,  3 adults (approx 190lbs each) and one gromit @ 55lbs and i still had a good hole shot and max speed was 30mph.

Do you have a 115hp ready to go?

Not yet. shopping around and just wondering what everyone's results where. I've seen everything from 90's to 150's.

First off, lets see some pics of your sweet girl..

Personally, If I were to re-power I would slap on a 130hp Etec.  The cost difference from a 115 to a 130hp Etec is approx $800. I say well worth it.

Are you shopping new or used?  If used, how old are you considering?  Are you leaning toward 4 stroke or 2 stroke?

Was very  impressed. JMHO.

Eh- not really.  I could ask around, but it seems that most everyone is repowering with some kind of modern fuel injection.

I do have a titled 80's circa 90HP Evinrude that's coughing and sputtering, but otherwise runs and tilts.  Was going to put it on Craigslist for $300.

MM, I think he's talking about the boat.  It sounds (to me) that he's still searching for his 19-6????
