22-2 with tower and float bracket engine opinions
« on: August 14, 2020, 03:37:45 PM »
Hi all,

Curious about your thoughts on engine options.

Boat: 22-2 V-hull

currently powered by: 1999 Yamaha 150 Vmax- cruises around 22-25mph @ 3700-4000rpms   rarely ever close to WOT
console: front seat removed and replaced with Yeti
Livewell/leanpost- 40 gallon- typically only filled to 20-30 gallons
half tower

BUILD PLAN WHERE THE ENGINE QUESTION COMES INTO PLAY:

rebuild floor with nidacore
60 gallon gas tank moved 12" forward
enclosed transom
flotation bracket with 30" setback and extra wide flotation chamber

Engine opportunity: I have a good deal on a Suzuki DF 250

- is this overkill? I know these boats are not speed demons- but with a full load of 4-5 adults, coolers, and a livewell- I feel like the 150 is a little underpowered...
