WhoooooWeeee doggie,  I can already taste them bold p-nuts.

I Was driving back from the east coast the other weekend on US-192 and pulled a fast u-turn when I saw the truck with 2 huge pots of Bold P-nuts.  $10.00 got me a grocery bag full.  My buddy and I ate them the whole way home, man were they good.

Hell, its only 2 weeks away! Im really looking forward to meeting, fishing, eating, and of course drinking with everyone.

Octoberfest fishing report:

Was invited to mate aboard a friend's 31 Contender, twin 350's. Just being on that boat...what a treat.

Went live bait fishing today for king mackeral. The fishing for them has been slow, waiting on falling water temps.

We cast netted live pogies, and were off. The ocean was beautiful. The Contender went  26 miles offshore into a slight head sea at 48 mph.

We pulled up, threw out the baits...ten minutes later, reel screams...ten minutes later, teenager in the box.

Ended up with five in the box, four lost....mainly because three hit at once, and the lines got wrapped as they went here and there...cut each other off...it was a cluster, but ooooh, great times :thumright:

Called it quits one fish from the limit. Rode home 27 statute miles in exactly 30 minutes...52 mph. Four strokes get great mileage right? She got .9 mpg on that thirty minute run

Let the big dog eat

Largest fish on the digital scale was 20.6 lbs. Plus the 16, and three averaging 11 each.

It was a great day. And only gets better from here.

Gas her up boys

Getting close now gang!

Fishing tackle:

I will be bringing a BUNCH of extra rods, reels, and tackle for the fleet's use. King mack gear, flounder stuff, panfish stuff, gaffs, castnets etc. So don't go buy anything, most likely it will be there for your use.

Captains, if you are planning to livebait for king mack...you will want to have the following:

Raw water fed circulating livewell. Pogies are pretty fragile, an aerator in a trashcan won't work.

Live bait rigs. Small black tested swivel, four feet 30 lb test wire, black 2/0 short shank bait hook, five inches forty pound test wire, #4 black treble hook as stinger. Wire is coffee color, hooks 4X strong.

If you have a ten or twelve foot cast net, that's great, if you don't, no problem.

Gaff.

We have a pretty good handle on who's coming. Will know more and finalize a head count by mid week.

Finished cooking the last half-bushel of goobers, large. Half of them are cooked with habaneros and jalepenos. Each vessel will receive a bag of each, and a case of bottled water. Make sure your fire extinguisher is current

Rhojo...is everything locked in?

We still have to make our reservations, should be doing that this week so I will confirm after that but as of right now we are good to go. Planning on getting down there as early as possibly Friday.

Admiral reporting - all is well - plans are set  :salut:

See you Friday for lunch, looking forward to it!

Count me in for King fishing :thumright:   Looking forward to heading offshore weather permitting :thumright:

I am planning on towing down there early Friday morning.  Please let me know what time to meet at the ramp :?:   I know that will depend on the amount of alcohol consumption Thursday night :shaking2:  :thumright:

Did slip arrangements ever get firmed up or are we putting in and hauling out each day?

Room check in is at 3 p.m. so we'll be heading straight for the marina Friday unless we need to meet at the house first?

It won't be long now...

You can leave your boat in the water overnight at the marina:   http://www.southport-marina.com/transdockage.html

You can also put in on the trailer and leave it inside the fenced-in lot.  We MAY have room at the house, but I can't be sure until we get there - it depends on how sandy it is and how they have cut the grass and landscaping.

See you soon!!!
