The problem I am facing is I can't find many nice examples of 17 footers. I'm not just looking at aquasports either. The 17ft class boats seem to be limited right now where they used to be a dime a dozen. I can find tons of 19-6 AS, plenty of 22-2's, and even a few 16's all for less money, but not many 170/175's. is this normal, were they the rarer size produced? Is there a resource I'm not exploiting? I've tried the paper, boat trader, craigslist, letgo, wallapop.......

17ft is my limit as it needs to go in a garage and needs a swing tongue to fit even at an angle. If I could fit a 20ft I would have my pick of dozens, but at this rate I might just build another boat.

I would venture to bet that there were more 170/175 built than all the other models combined.  So they're out there, just have to be patient and maybe expand your search area.  Maybe try eBay also (never heard of letgo and wallapop)?

I would have thought so too. Tried Ebay, which has become much harder to find what you want these days. I am finding them, for similar prices, but most are bottom coated, or trashed. However many have newer motors. Most of the ones I'm finding are hours away, I've driven all over the state looking at different boats and have been disappointed each time. You would think central/west florida would have tons of them.

download cPro Craigslist on your Iphone.  it lets you search a wide geography.  There are several decent AS 17 listed in FL for < $5k with decent motors.  Good luck.

please post a link if you find one, I have cpro and searching a 200 mile radius only brings up the one I'm looking at.

Be sure to search with misspellings etc.  Here is a newer 175:

Thanks, I did see that one on normal CL, for some reason cpro shows you much less options.

This might sound petty, but I don't like what he did to the boat, I would want the original console, the baitwell is way to big, and why did a 2005 need to be repainted already, unless is has had a hard life.

yeah the console is... well I don't like it either.  But it shows you what comes up when you use common misspelled names etc.

Well, let me see.... I'm going to keep this boat forever... I want to make it my own... WOW I really like that color, I should paint my boat that color... geez, where is the best place to put a baitwell in this boat without causing the scuppers to go under.... etc.  We've heard this daily (and said it ourselves) on this site.
This is called "customizing".

It's worth what a buyer will pay.

Sorry Rick but I disagree with your assumptions. I'm not new to boats, and in my experience when a newer boat is freshly painted before someone sells it that usually means someone is trying to hide something. Just like bottom paint, cushions, graphics, and seadek can be used to hide all sorts of damage.

I would say that after what they did to the console, each one of my assumptions is a possibility but I guess only the seller knows for sure.
