1986 20 ft  Osprey

I found a pinhole leak under my gas tank. Should I have it repaired or get  a new tank.
All of the markings are gone from the tank, any idea what size ?
What make ?

I assume from corrosion?  Any other corroded spots on the tank?  If so, replace it.  Gasoline leaks in an enclosed space are nothing to fool around with.

You probably aren't going to find an exact replacement.  Tons of custom tank fabricators can be found on the web.

No question, replace it.  Measure H", W", & D" and a tank fabricator will quote you.

Had tank fixed.
Tank - renue
Works like new, cut out bad spot, welded in new.
Outer coating rubberized.
Cost $350.

I JUST GOT DONE PULLING THE TANK ON MY 1973 179AS  I don't see any terrible corrosion but it was full of water. The boat has sat outside for awhile and the sending unit was loose.  What is th erubber products to use on the outside? Also do you think I can pressure test it for leaks?

Find a local dealer have it done.
I have no idea what they use, but it is baked on inside & out.
Looks new, rubber coating will keep aluminum from rusting.

RDS builds tanks and are coast guard approved. This is one item you don't want to skimp on.

I have an 87 200 Osprey and these tanks often form pinhole leaks where the neck enters the tank.  I epoxied mine.

If the fixes work that's great... but keep a sharp eye on the tank.  A pounding hull flexes a tank continually.
