Looking for some opinions. Would there be any benefit for me to look for and put one of these on my Striper 165? Is it just an unneeded  add on since the sides are low anyway? I'll wait to start my hunt for this until I see some opinions. Thanks

From a woman's perspective....absolutely!!
No side is low enough for me to comfortably swing myself over. I'd much rather have a step.
So, if you have a first mate, I'd get her opinion

Why do you ask?

Do you need to get in and out of the boat while it's in the water?

If so, a platform helps more (IMHO) than a boat ladder by itself. Assuming that's why you asked, look for one with a folding, multiple step ladder. If you have the space, the style that folds underneath is nice.

I have the Windline DL 4,     really rugged, easy to mount and was less money on both Amazon and eBay.  Somewhere around $140..  And it floats!!!

Really beats climbing in using the out board lower unit as a step..


Only issue might be clearance between the ladder and the tab if you have or plan on installing trim tabs. That can be solved with a shim or two..

I have one of these on my 205 (3 step version).  Everyone that uses it loves it - it is much easier and more comfortable than the flip-down steps.  You should be able to mount the bracket to your transom without a swim platform.  Only down sides are that you need to remember to remove it (as gran stated), and you need to have a place to store it in the boat when it is not deployed.
