Good solid motor.  I'd check to make sure you are getting spark in all cylinders.  I had that problem on mine.  Also when were the carbs cleaned last? A dirty carb could cause a lean cylinder (not good on a two stroke).  I'd start pulling plugs to see how they look.  New plugs are cheap.  Use the plug they recommend (QL78YC I think)not a NGK.

Here is a video of testing the spark on my 225 Ocean pro

I took all carbs apart cleaned checked float levels. Also put new plugs ran it pulled all plugs looked good except #5 didn't appear to have the discoloration as the rest. Compression is good on all cylinders changed coil and wire on that cylinder started on hose actually sounded more consistent. Timing is good could power pack be going bad. Also in water what should idle be at . I'm about 620 -630 in gear is that too low does not stall out or anything runs great. Thanks for any ideas Wingtime

Idle sounds good. Was the #5 plug wet and oily? Could be a powerpack going bad. I replaced mine with a CDI unit. Runs and starts much better than the original power pack.

The color is Tahitian Tan and is 1981 Hin Tag #ASPP0663M81H want to post pics  The name of boat is called Tahitian Rose  with a big red rose painted between Tahitian  and Rose. The original owner's wife was named Rose he had boat for one year then she passed away and he never used it again and finally sold it in 1991 to the guy I purchased from. The boat came with a Rolls Axle trailer that he had them make for it too. Thanks

So the VRO is disconnected or do you want to disconnect it?  To be honest despite the old timers rumors the VRO system is actually a very reliable system.  You use by far more oil premixing then running the VRO.  Usually most people do not disconnect the VRO systems properly.  They usually disconnect all the alarm circuits.  This is not good because you will not know if you get a overheat alarm (much more likely than a VRO failure).

First, read carefully.

Next, if these pics are of the overall boat (instead of just the prop) please post them here.
