Fuel line hook-up for kicker

(1/1)

JimCt:
Just bought on eBay a '73 6 hp evinrude long shaft for trolling/back-up on my 170.  Since both the main engine and this one run 50:1, I want to connect both up to the main tank supply. Can I do this?  Do I just tee into the filter seperator, go thru a squeeze bulb then on to the kicker?

steved:
I have my auxiliary motor also drawing from the main gas tank, but I have it run through two separate filters, that is the "T" is before the filters. Don't know why it is set up that way (I bought the boat like that) but it works well.

JimCt:
Only thing I can think of on your boat is that whoever set it up figured that if there was a filter problem on the main engine, the kicker would have it's own dedicated system and not be affected, which is actually a great idea... think I'll do the same.

steved:
It works well for the fuel lines too.  I also keep a portable plastic gas tank with a hose fitted for the auxiliary motor - that way I'm also covered against a main gas tank problem (like it being empty!)  :)
