Craig - that certainly counts!  I'll be floating my mini-season pics onto the site in another week or so, and if anyone has the cojones to say they're NOT fishing pics I'll have words!  :pirat:

Catch 'em, boys!  Summer's soaking us off the water, but what're you gonna eat this winter if you don't get out???  Bill needs some competition!!

btw - How much you charging for those suckers, Craig?     I would DIE to be able to get up your way and catch some local fresh scallop.  Do fresh scallop taste as much better than store-bought as most fish do?

Ryan,

I can't remember ever buying them from the market.  I do get them occasionally at seafood restaurants, and I must say I don't think they compare to fresh caught ones.  They really are delicious!

Of course, I'm sure fresh lobster is the same way.  I hope you limit out too!  Can't wait for pics!

Carolina report:

We've had rain to beat the band, which equates to muddy water. But tonight, the tide was right, the moon was right, the weather was beautiful....and no wind, a drastic change....so went flounder gigging for the first time this year :thumright:

The water was still muddy. The tide was slow to turn. Went to the fave holes....no baitfish. Went to my neighbor's secret spots...slow even worse. We saw two legal fish all night, and gave 'em the cold steel. Two pretty fish, could have been twins, 19 inches or around 3 pounds each. They're $9.95 a pound here in the seafood market, so even after the ramp fee of 15 bucks and a gallon of gas and beers we felt pretty good.

It was a gorgeous night to be out fishing, and glad we went

What an ordeal getting this picture up!!!  Here's the thing. I didn't take any pictures of Saturdays Blowfish smack down. By the time I got back to the dock it was pushing 6, and I still had 56 blowfish and a very messy boat to clean.  Pictures were not anywhere on the list of things to do. I dug through my archives and found this one. This was a trip from last September, at our annual blowfish tournament. We had 108 that day, filled both fish wells to the point I could close the lids.

This little cutie is my granddaughter. This is what the look like when they're not inflated like a bunch of volley balls

I bet if you popped them you could have fit about 432!  Those are some awesome pics!  I grew up in the Toms River area...caught an occasional blowfish, but never saw numbers like that  !  Do you need to clean them a special way due to a poison gland or something like that?

When most folks around here go gigging, there are a few dead soldiers who gave their best for the cause

We're pretty fortunate ....we get checked a LOT at night, even in remote places/creeks/guts you wouldn't expect.  Marine Fisheries is interested in the fish, catch numbers, and proper licensing. Be respectful...pay attention...answer their questions truthfully....they won't question alcohol unless it's too blatant to ignore.

Heres a full moon afternoons work in the Bahamas last month. Full moon really had it scarce over there, made it hard to find em! Production is usually much better. Biggest grouper was only about 25...

West central Florida grouper is doing well.  Not seeing many gags, but reds are plentiful in 80 - 120 feet of water.  Been doing well in water temps in the low to mid 80s.
