New to Forum- just purchased a/an Aquasport also
« on: November 18, 2010, 12:19:08 PM »
Hello,

My name is Steve (El-Guapo on most internet sites relating to fishing/boating) I reside in the Berkshires, but, can usually be found somewhere in R.I. chasing stripedbass on the weekends.  A few weeks ago I took the plunge and bought a used aquasport.  It's a 1988 222 ccp with a 2002 Evinrude 200 (Ficht injection).  At this time, she's waiting in line at GF Burdick and son, to be winterized and prepped for spring.  Hopefully, I can locate a place to store her indoors, close to home, so as to start bringing her back to her former glory.  I look forward to talking with and potentially meeting with some of you in the future.  I do have a quick question.....What does ccp stand for?  My best guess was center console package.  Thanks in advance for your help and patience,as I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions over the next few months!

Steve A.

Welcome aboard Steve!  That 222 CCP with a 200 sounds like a nice boat.

Post some pictures of her when you can!

Where in the Berkshires do you live?  I'm originally from Pittsfield and I still have family there along with a sister that lives in Adams.

I live in Lenox, still have a house in Pittsfield on upper north st. near crane ave.  I will post up some picks once I bring her home( or close to home- still haven't figured out how to tell my wife I bought a boat) Once she's winterized, she goes to a friends house in R.I. who has boat stands so that i can replace the clamps and bent plate on the rightside slide board.  I don't want to tow her 3hrs without making sure the trailer is up for it.

Oh crap didn't tell the wife yet huh?

Small world.  I used to play hockey in Lenox back in the late 70's early 80's before my family moved to FL.  I used to live off of West street on Roberta Road.  I was shocked to see the GE plant on East street just GONE!  I miss Teo's hot dogs and Eastside Cafe Pizza!

I played my hockey at the boys club- lenox cut the hockey program when I reached highschool-proposition 2 1/2-  Didn't they open a teo's somewhere in fla years back?  Haven't had an east side pizza in a while-maybe this weekend!  Yeah, still haven't figured out the best way to tell her about the new toy, she's still pissed about the ski doo 800 rev x-package I showed up with and that was 3 years ago- (doesn't help that I only put about 400 miles on it and didn't use it at all last winter.)

Wow really small world I used to play hockey primarily at the Boys Club and I was on the All Star team and all that good stuff.  I went to school at BCD in Stockbridge too.  Yes you right Teo's did have a place in Naples Florida but it is closed now.  It was about a two hour drive south of here.  It wasn't too far from the airport so I would fly my Cessna down there now and then for a taste of home.  Like the original it was located in an industrial area.  When you walked in it looked just like a larger version of the one in Pittsfield.  Bar on your left with the stained glass sign and cheap wood panel walls.  The dogs were good but just not the same as the ones back home.

Okay it really is a small world! My wife was born in Pittsfield but grew up in Washington. She said to ask if you guys remember the Busy Bee restaurant or if you remember the name of the grinder place? Her dad and brothers ran Gillett Auto in Washington until it burned down.

Welcome aboard ElGuapo222     I'm sure your going to like your new water ride :P
I never knew we had so many members from MA. I'm in southeastern Ma, Westport to be exact.
I had to laugh when you said you didn't tell the wife about your new toy. I did the same thing three weeks ago.
Came home and told the wife we were taking a road trip to Long Island to pick up OUR new, used boat. I had to weave and bob so the cutting laser that were shooting out of her eyes didn't get me :ncool:  :ncool: but when she looked at the pics she liked what she was seeing and I had her half onboard. On the return trip from LI we stopped for gas, while I was filling up she was on the boat checking it out.  She gets back in the truck and to my amazement she says to me "That's a real nice boat, I'm glad you found it" ....then that look in her eyes comes back (the laser look) and she says "You should have told me you were buying it BEFORE you bought it"!!!!! I am truly a lucky guy, my wife likes being out on the water as much as I do. :)  :)  :)
ElGuapo222 I hope your wife takes the news as well as my wife did. Good luck and be ready to duck when you tell her.

Thanks Marco,

I fish with a guy from Westport named Jay- he goes by the online name of Westport Mafia- As far as telling the wife about the boat.... I don't think she's ready yet.. I was checking out lobster pots on craigslist the other night, she reads the add and immediately starts in with don't tell me you bought a boat etc etc etc  thankfully it was bowling night and I was able to avoid the topic.  Westport is one of the places we talked about moving to(once my daughter finishes school-8 more longgg years!) so that I can be closer to the salt water and save the 3 hr drive.  Let me know if you want to "hook" up and fish sometime.
