Maybe some of the old salts here have seen somethig like this but I sure haven't. I wouldn't touch this boat with a 10' pole but it's an interesting idea that obviously never worked out.

WOW. That is the epitome of unsafe trailering & boating. I would love to see someone driving that down the lake with the trailer tongue contraption dragging in the water & one of the wheels shooting spray everywhere.

I wonder how fast a cop could pull this rig over on the interstate? That's if the tongue holds on for long enough.

American ingenuity at it's best...NC style (note, I didn't say redneck!).

Looks like landing gear for boats...

Wow, I've never seen that before.

I just don't understand the thought process behind that idea...     Seems it would be more difficult to unhook the trailer from your rig than to simply launch the boat from the connected trailer.  Owner must have been using a ramp with very small parking spaces..

Reminds me of a story Dad told me about a customer who was complaining about the performance of their new boat.  These customers were brand new to boating.  They called him and told him they just couldn't get the boat to plane out no matter what they tried.  After walking them through all the obvious causes of poor performance, turns out they left the trailer strapped to the boat, and unhooked the boat&trailer from the truck at the ramp.  Really.

OK so do you register it as a trailer or as a boat?  I'd like to see how the DMV would figure that one out!

Might not even get registered - I think abortions are illegal in some states...

Is it possible that this was a factory piece?  I've seen weirder things than this.

Well, I don't think this crazy rig was created in NC. I showed this to my dad, and he said he's spotted this same boat being launched here in SC years ago...

Not surprising
