Soundings article
« on: February 14, 2006, 08:58:47 AM »
I was reading the August copy of Soundings magazine and there was an article regarding Genmar & Aquasport. Apparently Genmar has decided to stop production as of 2006 of AS. They went on to say that the AS name is not for sale.

It was a good article mentioning among other things, the devoted AS customers and how AS is now "trendy" in Europe.

A good example of nut cases running a business.  If Genmar went back to building the AS boats as they were first designed, they'd likely have plenty of orders.  Have to wonder why the name isn't for sale.  At least they could make a few bucks on the way out the door...   Maybe they figure to license the name someday.

The official answer is (or was) that Genmar was going to re-think the Aquasport line and come out with a new line in 2007.  Whether that actually happens or not is anybody's guess. One contribution we could make would be to contact Aquasport and make sure that copies of everything they have on the Genmar line of Aquasports are kept - so that some time in the future the same situation does not exist for the Genmar Aquasports that does for the originals.
