Looking for resources Suzuki DT 140 OB
« on: December 16, 2005, 05:35:53 PM »
My new (old 1972) 19"6" CC came powered by DT 140 SER # 14002 - 710435
I'm not sure what year it is? Can anyone help me with this
It fired right up and the compression was 120lb acress all cyl.
I would appreciate any comments and recommendations on this engine.
I have noticed that people are mentioning "soft spots in deck". All seems good on my first inspection. I would also like comments on what to look for on this hull. It seems that a little TLC and paint and I should be able to fish this boat as i improve the cosmetics ( new fittings here and there).
It needs a new electronics package and a complete rewire of electrical system, but i'm a good electrician and it will ship shape in a few weeks.

Thanks
David

Hi David!

Try this link for your outboard questions:

Sign in and let fire with your engine questions.  TMD's an excellent resource to bookmark.

Concerning soft spots, probably the best way to learn the ins & outs of your boat will be to take a few hours and study the posts here in the "Aquasport Re-builds" forum.  There are many levels of discussion & it's a good education.

Problem I have reading the re-build posts is that I start imagining my boat has every hull affliction I read about...

If that's a silver Suzuki, search my posts for my thoughts.  I had one, in two words "it sucked".
