Aquasport 281? Any help to figure out what this hull is?
« on: July 29, 2021, 01:38:48 PM »
Hi everyone,
kinda looking at this aquasport.  Sellers description says 28', 10' beam. He's Not very descriptive. I understand from Rick that its rare, and there is one of these that has been popping up for sale in sw florida for a while. maybe this is it?

Hes asking 7900. with a trailer that looks like it needs work, or 6000 hull only.  He says its solid. I'm not real sure about the price.
I'm assuming twin 200s would push her?
Is this a dry boat?
Would prefer a equip with a tower
I love a good project, but not sure about this one. This would be my third project boat, and the largest one too.
HIUD is ASPT5018H687

Any experience, with the identifying the model, pricing, etc is greatly appreciated!!!

Chris

You are looking at this hull.

Here's the specs: Length overall including bow pulpit 28' 10".  Beam: 9' 7 1/2".  Draft including props 24".  Max HP 550.  Fuel cap:250.  water 25 Gal. Transom height 30"  (25" twins)  Dry hull weight 4700 Aprox. deadrise 20'.  That's straight off the 1987 AS lit.  Of course that's for a 271 Osprey which is the same boat that became the 281 Osprey the next year.
(specs supplied by former owner and early Forum member Keith Knecht) :salut:

More light reading on performance and comparison.

Good luck.

I spoke with the previous owner. Seems like it’s changed hands. I saw it posted a few months back by the same individual. Previous owner wasn’t able to provide evidence of a title. It was in Miami and nothing seemed right about my interactions with her. The new owner says the title is on the way. I thought about building one (not that I need another project) but I changed my mind. Just be careful with the title. I think the trailer is homemade and not registered.

Bob hit all the specs. I hear they are a beast of a boat but wet.

Wish you the best.
