ignition switch woes

(1/1)

oxlacey:
The ignition switch plastic nut is cracked so it won't tighten.  I'm sure I'm on borrowed time.  Anyone know of a wiring diagram, part # for switch replacement, size of the plastic nut?  The key doesn't turn so easily either so is there something i can do to make the key turn easier?

RickK:
You can try liquid graphite. Put a couple drops on the key and slide it in and out of the slot. See if that helps, usually takes care of it.

Ulysses485:
What motor is it for? Wiring diagrams for the OMCs are fairly simple to follow and wiring up a new key switch is not too difficult to swap out. If the key doesn’t turn easily, I am wondering if corrosion is the cause?

oxlacey:
ok, nothing tricky evidently.  3 wires to the ignition switch.  Hot (RED) goes to common.  Run (PURPLE).  Start (YELLOW).  I do have additional wires to the switch that I wish the Vendor had provided instruction:  yellow/stripe, black and another black wire.
