1990 evinrude 88 spl tachometer install
« on: April 26, 2017, 08:46:08 PM »
Hey all,

Im looking to install a Faria tach for my outboard.  I purchased the Evinrude wiring harness that plugs right into the harness plug off of my throttle box.  Easy enough right?  What concerns me is that the Faria instructions say for an 88 and 112 hp a voltage regulator is recommended. It also says a system check tach or 2" gauge is REQUIRED. Im assuming this is due to the lack of a regulator on these outboards. I have 2 batteries on my boat connected through the blue seas system acr setup. The highest my voltage ever read was 13.5v last year while under way. Think I can get away with a normal tach or do I need to get finicky here?  I appreciate the advice for this is a weak point for me.  Thanks
Brendan P. D.
