Morning all,
I see a lot of posting from CT and Long Island and figured I would throw out a post to try and get a sense of how many of us are up here, say from New Jersey to Maine.
The purpose is to self there are enough of us to work on a casual gathering somewhere sometime to maybe show off our boats and have some fun, I mean we cant let Gran and skoot have all the fun.
So as a simple first step, if you live in this area, reply with a name and state.

Bill, did you join the group for your area? Then you can mass PM to that group.

Another thing to do while you're in there is enter your "location" - city, state is fine - this way when you ask a question about something specific to your area, people from your area will answer.

Bill,
From NJ

Steve from mass, but, I keep a slip in Naragansett RI

Thanks RickK,
i joined the local section. As i have all ready started this one, if anyone else wants to add their name to here or follow the previous instructions, i am thinking a gathering in the sound would be nice in the summer.

Hello to everyone so far. I am keeping an eye on this, but giving it some time (not like any of us New Englanders are going anywhere for a couple more months). At some point, we can start a conversation about a simple meet and greet for the summer.

Nice, we have the battle of Lexington and Concord right here in back to back posts. :rambo:

Kevin in Milford CT. Just got 1984 200ccp fixer-upper. Should be run-able this summer but it doesn't look like much. It lives on a trailer so I have some flexibility for a meet up.

Guys, you have a great membership....hopefully you'll organize a reunion.
Whoever volunteers to lead...New England members, please support and attend.
None of you will regret it. Matter of fact, it will be the best weekend of the year.
Looking forward to your inaugural reunion :thumright:
-
If you look in the area groups, the Northeast has the most members. Should be a great gathering.
All of you that haven't done so yet, go to your profile and add your location so members can see where you're from. Also join the area group near you.

Bill, hope you guys can get this together this summer.
-
Hey Bill,
any more thoughts on a get-together up your way? My father finally got his '79 170 running this summer, has been having fun running out of Guilford, cruising around Falkners, and doing a bit of porgy fishing in the Sound. He was talking about trying to do some sort of camping trip out in the Narragansett Bay area soon so I mentioned that he should try and hook up with whomever you might muster up for your get together too! Can't believe summer's gonna be over soon!!
-
Good deal. Exactly the thinking today.
Don't wait for others to get it together. Take the bull by the horns.
It's August in the Northeast. Florida members...they have a four week window beginning now to make their inaugural reunion happen.
You guys....bust a move

Huh?

It gets cold there.

thanks gran for bumping this up and for everyone for keepin it up. work kicked my butt this year (I make ice cream and somehow sales always seem to increase in the summer  ). Anyway, 50% of my help (the other guy) took another job and I have been working 50 hour weeks. I have gotten out fishing a bunch, but havent followed through with this.
From you southern guys, whats a nice and easy first year format you can recomend. Half of us marina our boats, some trailer, and we are pretty spread out. any thoughts. I'd love to make something happen.

Bill, start a new thread about the location and timing. This way you will see who is still interested. Once you get an idea of how many you can start one poll as to place and another for date. Hope you have 20 show up! Come on northern brethren, show us rebels how yall roll up there!
-
There are more group members in the northeast than any other :!:
Agreed that it is a big area and I wouldn't expect people to travel more than 50 miles (we have a hard time getting people to come even half that far away down here  )
With that in mind you should expect to have to break the area up into more digestable chunks as far as gatherings go. Like Lew recommended, pick a place that will work in your area start working that. Others can do the same in their areas?
-
Bill, you're welcome, and glad you guys are still considering it. It does get cold there a lot earlier than here, therefore the "window of opportunity" thought.
Once was in Maine, and one of the locals told me "We have two seasons....winter, and the Fourth of July!"
Agree with Lew and Rick re the poll, location, etc. However, there are folks this year attending from all over, and we're excited! Lewis will be trailering in from Lawrenceville, Georgia, and that's a haul!
To make it easy, and Admiral-friendly....pick a place with good accommodations, good secure trailer-friendly parking, good shopping and restaurants.
My Admiral is not into boats...but she loves shoes
-
How are you guys doing on getting this gathering together? Any progress? Seasons about over up there isn't it?
