What size kicker?

I want to put a kicker on the 22' CCP. It will mount on the side of the transom above the main engine mount on one of the fold down brackets so when its deployed it will clear my tabs. I'm thinking Mercury 4S about 10-15hp. Is this overkill? Short shaft or long shaft? Anybody got a similar setup?

It's a trade-off between having enough power to buck a headwind getting home and adding excess weight back aft.  If you are going local in the bay, 9.9 hp will get you home... sooner or later. For more distant trips ~15 hp might be the better choice.  Weight's the limiting factor.
