1981 Family Fisherman Rebuild 22' I/O
« on: October 10, 2013, 11:50:14 AM »
Hi Everyone, This is my first post here.
I have a 1981 Aquasport Family Fisherman 22’ (I/O) version.
Did some TLC on her this spring and put her in the water this year.
I did find a few problems and was wondering if I should do a rebuild (Floor, Transom, and Stringer).
I have read up on rebuilding the transoms on other FF that are associated with outboards and was wondering what is the difference between doing it for an Outboard vs. Stern drive.
Is Seacast my best option here?
Is this something I can do in my driveway/garage or do I need to take it to a shop?
I really like this boat and would like to keep it for as long as possible.
I have never attempted anything like this, any guidance/advice is very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Nice ride.

Lets see some business end pics.

Also, don't forget to post up on the FF registry.

I made it a sticky thread in the Discussion forum so it's easy to find.

Thanks for the reply's.
I have not started the project.
I am just trying to get an understating and estimation in regards to time, money and skill required to approach the project.
I was thinking about getting a replacement for the engine (mercruiser 470) but it looks like ill just get a new same one as well.
Do you guys know how thick the transom is on the i/o version?
